Welcome to the 9th session of “Stories from the Ground”. Today, we have the pleasure of introducing Yilmaz Elmaci, who is currently working as a Site Manager at EQOS energy. In this edition, we had the opportunity to interview him about his experience working with recruitment agency, Artemys, and his thoughts on the company he currently works for. Can you tell us a bit about the company you work for and what they do?

The company works with highline cables that transport energy all over Europe, including in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. Our main job is pulling and installing highline cables.

What is your role in the company as a site coordinator?

I’m the site coordinator. I manage and oversee the day-to-day operations at our various work sites.

How do you feel about your job and the level of fulfilment it brings you?

I feel pretty happy about my job. It’s similar to what I was doing before, so I’m comfortable with it. I also receive positive feedback from my managers, which is reassuring. Overall, I feel very relaxed and fulfilled in my role.

Looking to the future, how do you see your personal development within the company over the next five years?

It’s only been more than a month since I started, so I’m not entirely sure yet. However, my priority right now is to learn more about the job, especially since I’ve never worked with highline cables before. After a few years, I hope to have a better understanding of the job and the industry as a whole. From there, I may consider changing functions within the same area of work.

It sounds like you’re motivated to learn and grow within this field. Can you tell us a bit more about what drives you?

I’m definitely motivated to learn more about highline cables and work my way up in the industry. I find it interesting and challenging, especially since highline cables are often located in remote areas like mountains and woods. It’s not like working in a factory, so there’s a sense of freedom and adventure to it. I hope one day to be able to work directly with the highline cables themselves, which would be a real accomplishment.

Can you tell us about your experience working with Artemys, the recruitment agency that placed you with this company?

Artemys reached out to me about five months ago and told me about this opportunity. They set up an interview with the company, which went well. There were a few minor issues with EQOS, the company I now work for, due to a change in management, but nothing too major. Overall, my experience with Artemys was positive, and I’m grateful for the opportunity they provided me.

What was your first impression of Artemys when they contacted you? Do you feel like it was a recruitment company that you could trust?

I felt that I could trust Artemys because they were professionals and gave me much useful information in detail. They acted as mediators between me and the company and presented the job offer well.

Did you feel that Artemys supported you to handle the interview, and how did they do it?

Yes, Artemys provided good support. They told me everything that I was supposed to know and answered all my questions. It was a good experience.

Did you feel that Artemys provided adequate support and follow-up throughout the recruitment process?

Yes, the follow-up was good. They provided me with everything I needed. However, there were some administrative complexities in the contract process due to EQOS changing management and their lack of experience with the Belgian market. Artemys played a good role in mediating this aspect. They supported me and helped me find the best working content and condition they could.

What is your general opinion about Artemys?

I find Artemys and its team very professional, which provides good communication with candidates. They gain trust by showing confidence and delivering on their commitments. Overall, it was a positive experience.

Do you have any suggestions or tips for how Artemys could improve its recruitment process?

I only met Artemys via Zoom during the recruitment process. Meeting in person could be beneficial if the conditions are right.

Is there anything else you would like to add before ending our interview?

I just want to highlight that I had many different thoughts about EQOS before I started working there, but now I can say that it’s a good company, and I feel lucky to be there.
